Luxury apartment complex is being built on the site of the former Queens Gardens Police Station.

The Glass House complex will comprise 94 apartments with 21 duplex penthouses.

An 'exciting' new apartment development next to Queens Gardens is the latest in a growing number of successful city centre conversion projects, according to Hull City Council's deputy leader.

The luxury Glass House complex is being built on the site of the former Queens Gardens Police Station. It will see 94 apartments with 21 duplex penthouses added to the roof of the original building, with 105 car parking spaces.

And the project will be followed by the transformation of more city centre buildings, said Councillor Daren Hale, who is also the city's portfolio holder for planning, land and property.

“This development represents another exciting city centre conversion following on from the success of K2 and Essex House," said Cllr Hale.

“The developer has worked very closely with both the council’s planning and building control teams to ensure the scheme provides high-quality spacious accommodation on a prime site in the city centre and we hope to see our continued working with Iguana Developments as they continue to invest in high-end city centre accommodation.”

The project will see Queens Dock Avenue pedestrianised, linking The Glass House directly to Queens Gardens, which is receiving a £4.3m facelift starting next year.

The main elevation of the building in Queens Dock Avenue is fully glazed and features an impressive two-storey atrium entrance.

The majority of apartments have their own balcony, while penthouses have roof terraces, while the development also includes a gym, cinema and other features for residents.

Iguana Developments managing director Jason Coleman said:  “We are pleased to launch The Glass House which I believe it is a major landmark in the city centre’s regeneration and with registered interest already from local people who want to live in the city centre, we are confident to say so.”

“We are offering apartments to market for sale and focusing on owner-occupiers to continue building a solid community where neighbours know one another and share access to smart amenities built into our developments.”

Iguana Developments began in 2015 and has investing almost £40m of private funds to refurbish Essex House in Manor Street and Liberty House in Liberty Lane.
