Grants of up to £2,000 are available for those whose creative work has been directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hull businesses in the creative industries that have been hit by the effects of coronavirus are being urged to apply for up to £2,000 in grant support.
Hull City Council is welcoming applications from small businesses and freelance workers in the city’s creative industries for the Hull Business Discretionary Grant Fund.
Grants of up to £2,000 are available for those whose creative work has been directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Councillor Daren Hale, deputy leader of Hull City Council, said: “Hull City Council has already distributed more than £45 million in grant funding since the coronavirus pandemic began.
“But not every business is eligible for national support, as funding is tied to business rates within rules set by the Government. That’s why we launched a discretionary business grant fund to help businesses that may have missed out on previous support during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The creative industries in Hull have been hit as hard as any by the economic effects of coronavirus. We are urging small businesses and freelancers working in the city’s creative industries to apply for help through this grant to ensure these businesses survive and thrive.”
The grants are at the discretion of the local authority. They will be processed by its business support team with advice from the council’s arts development team.
To be eligible, applicants must be resident in Hull and be able to the demonstrate a financial impact of Covid-19 on their practice or business though loss of contracts, engagements, access to market or self-employed income from the creative economy. This might include all art form practices, graphic design, educational or community workshop provision and professional services related to the performing arts.
