Hobson & Porter has secured a multimillion-pound contract from the University of Hull for the construction of a new low-carbon innovation centre.

The construction company has been appointed to build the Aura Innovation Centre at Hessle's Bridgehead Business Park on behalf of the university.

The purpose-built facility aims to provide large businesses and SMEs with the space to collaborate and innovate on low-carbon energy and clean growth projects.

Hobson & Porter's first venture into the offshore renewables sector was in 2014 when the company built a new onshore operations base and warehouses for Dong Energy Power (UK) to service its Westermost Rough wind farm. It has gone on to complete five further projects for the company, which has now rebranded as Ørsted.
