Hull-based JR Rix & Sons is set to acquire full ownership of offshore wind industry supplier BostonRix Wind.

The company has agreed a deal to buy Boston Energy’s 50 per cent stake in the business for an undisclosed sum.

BostonRix Wind, which provides a range of services to offshore wind farm operators, will be rebranded as Rix Renewables when the deal completes on 1 October 2018. The day-to-day management of the business will be provided by Steve Danson, existing general manager of BostonRix Wind.

The company was formed in 2016 as a joint venture (JV) with Boston Energy, bringing together the maritime experience of the Rix Group with the engineering skills and personnel of Boston Energy.

The two business will continue to collaborate, with Rix Renewables specialising in marine services, wind turbine maintenance, offshore transmission (OFTO) assets inspection, and balance of plant services, and Boston Energy providing technicians and engineers to ongoing and future contracts.
