New role for lead executive responsible for KCOM’s full fibre roll-out which allowed region to have the most extensive full-fibre broadband network in the UK.

Sean Royce.

East Yorkshire internet provider Quickline has appointed Sean Royce, former managing director of KCOM Group's Hull and East Yorkshire business, as its new chief executive officer.

Royce will join the Hessle firm, which provides ultrafast broadband to rural and hard-to-reach areas, in May after more than 18 years in senior roles at KCOM.

As the lead executive responsible for KCOM’s full-fibre roll-out, he was pivotal in the region having the first and most extensive full fibre broadband network in the UK.

After Quickline securing four major BDUK grants across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in late 2020, the appointment comes at an exciting time for the firm, which is looking to scale up the business with ambitious growth plans and to provide even more ultrafast broadband services across the North of the UK and beyond.

Quickline use a hybrid of technologies including 5G fixed wireless and fibre to reach these areas and continue to pioneer new technologies, often working with government to try and solve the connectivity problems that exist in rural communities.

“I am delighted to be joining such an innovative and vibrant organisation that embraces the challenges of rural connectivity issues,” said Royce.

“The opportunity here is to change people’s lives for the better. To help them live, work, socialise and shop online when today they simply cannot.”

Steve Jagger, founder and CTO of Quickline, said: “I look forward to working together with Sean as we build on the great progress Quickline has made in the last year.”
