How the Melton West police building could look.

A contractor has been appointed to build a new £20m police facility set to house more than 500 staff.

Willmott Dixon has been selected by Humberside Police Force and developer Wykeland Group to work on the project.

Plans for the three-storey operational support building at Wykeland's flagship Melton West business park, west of Hull, were submitted to East Riding Council at the end of last year.

If approved, Willmott Dixon is expected to start construction in the third quarter of 2020.

Anthony Dillon, manager director at Willmott Dixon, said: "We are delighted to be creating an important new hub for Humberside Police. It's going to provide a smart, efficient environment for the force to deliver policing across the region for many generations to come."
