Local authority takes on apprentices to help grow their own talent every year.

Hull City Council has a number of new apprenticeship opportunities.

Each year, the council takes on a significant number of apprentices and recognises that employing them helps them to grow their own talent by developing a motivated, skilled and qualified workforce.

Apprenticeships in the public and private sector can lead to very different careers including teaching, IT, engineering, construction, health and social care, legal and civic services to name a few.

Hull Training and Adult Education is to hold an open event on Tuesday 20 November at their offices in the BBC Building, Queens Gardens, Hull for anyone who is interested in finding out more. The event will take place 11am - 4pm.

They are now recruiting for a number of vacancies with varied roles and opportunities to join several teams, including, the Information Team; Children and Young People Services; Legal, Customer Service Centres and Civic services. Those apprentices employed by the Council receive training through the Council-run training provider Hull Training and Adult Education. In addition we also have a number of apprenticeships available in private business which we provide the training support to, apprenticeships such as fenestration, butchery, ICT and joinery.

Councillor Peter Clark, Portfolio Holder for Learning, Skills and Safeguarding Children, said: “The apprenticeship programme at the council is a real success story and has helped hundreds of people gain full-time employment so far. We have a long history in recruiting apprentices, supporting local people to build successful careers in the public and private sector.

“Investment in apprentices is key to equipping our city with the right skill-sets and ensuring we have a large talent pool to deliver the services the people of Hull need.”
