The brand-new Hull Adventure Centre is open to the public today, Friday 1 March, with visitors now able to enjoy a bigger and better experience.
The centre, based at Hull Karting, has also launched a new website to enable quicker and easier online bookings.
Hull Adventure Centre has introduced archery-tag, bubble ball football and dodgeball, offering further and more accessible provision to its already exhilarating experience.
John Haines, Hull Adventure Centre manager, said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve been able to launch Hull Adventure Centre and offer more activities to the people of Hull.
“I’ve been here for 10 years now and when I first started in the youth sector, there were nearby outdoor pursuit facilities which people could travel to.
“Those are no longer available, but what I want to do is bring that to the people of Hull, meaning they don’t have to travel to experience such facilities.
“This is just the start for Hull Adventure Centre. We can take our new activities off-site to schools and events, whilst we’ve also plans for high ropes and indoor caving too.”
Hull Karting marked its 20th anniversary at Poorhouse Lane, adjacent to Craven Park.
Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, portfolio holder for regeneration at Hull City Council, unveiled a plaque on the anniversary to mark the occasion and the launching of Hull Adventure Centre.
He said: “Hull Karting is a popular facility in Hull which already welcomes thousands of visitors each year and these new activities will mean that it can welcome even more.
“It’s brilliant that we have this on our doorstep and there are big plans for Hull Adventure Centre too.
“I have no doubt that it will be enjoyed by many for years to come.”
Young people from the council’s Room 42, a project which supports care experienced young people, as well as their partners the ‘Warren Youth Project’, a local charity that also provides support to young people in Hull, were invited to try out the new activities.
Phil Morris, personal advisor from the council’s Room 42 project, said: “It’s great for Room 42 to have been invited and had the opportunity to be part of the Hull Adventure Centre launch.
“Our Young People have had an amazing day with lots of laughs.
“We are looking forward to coming back and taking part in some more adventures this year.”
