Bridgehead Business Park will be home to a new health club created by Wykeland and Commonwealth boxing champion Tommy Coyle.
Former boxing champion Tommy Coyle and leading developer Wykeland Group are working together to create a new health and wellbeing centre at a flagship business park.
Work is underway on the facility at Bridgehead Business Park, close to the Humber Bridge, which is owned and operated by Hull-based Wykeland.
The commercial gym, described by former Commonwealth lightweight champion Tommy as a “wellbeing destination”, will be called the Coyle Health Club.
It will be fitted out with the latest training equipment and feature a balcony area where regular classes such as pilates and yoga can be held outdoors during the summer months.
The facility will also feature a treatment room for physiotherapy and a café serving healthy options.
There will be a landscaped walkway up to the 4,000 sq ft, kite-shaped building, located close to the 1km woodland trail that surrounds Bridgehead.
More than 1,000 people are employed at the prestigious Bridgehead development in Hessle, East Yorkshire. The business park is home to a host of regional, national and global brands, from Beal Homes and the John Good Group to Centrica Storage and Porsche, and the Coyle Health Club will provide a community meeting hub on the site.
Tommy said: “I travelled the world as a fighter and I’ve taken inspiration from all the best gyms and health clubs I’ve visited to create the concept for the Coyle Health Club, which will be a truly top-class facility.
“This will be an inclusive wellbeing destination featuring some of the best equipment, coaches and nutritionists.
“It will also be a community hub on Bridgehead, where workers at the fantastic companies on the business park can meet and network.
“The Coyle Health Club will be unlike any other gym in the region and I’m incredibly grateful to Wykeland for giving me the opportunity to turn my dream into reality.”
The facility will also make use of woodland trail with the provision of a free outdoor community gym, for use by workers and walkers, as well as school groups that visit the site.
The picturesque trail was planned and delivered by Wykeland, working with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, which manages the woodland pathway and natural habitat.
John Gouldthorp, Asset Manager for Wykeland, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Tommy to create this new facility, which will enhance the offer at Bridgehead and make it an even more attractive destination for businesses.
“Employees at Bridgehead will be able to use the gym before and after work, and during their lunch breaks, and it will also provide a networking hub where people can meet. We already have a nursery on Bridgehead and this will make the business park even more of a community.
“The outdoor gym is also a fantastic idea as we have regular school trips to the woodland trail and children will be able to use this equipment to learn more about health and wellbeing.”
Groundworks for the health and wellbeing centre are underway, with steelworks due to begin in the coming months. The gym is expected to be complete and open this summer. Membership prices will be announced nearer to the opening.

“The gym has been designed to fit perfectly into a corner of the business park, close to the woodland trail. Its elevated position means it will also overlook Bridgehead, providing a focal point for the park.”
Wykeland is one of Yorkshire’s leading developers and is driving forward several key regeneration projects across the Hull and Humber region, including the £80m transformation of Hull’s Fruit Market, working in partnership with housebuilder Beal Homes and Hull City Council.
