Neurodiverse and care experienced businesses and start-ups are invited to an inclusive Christmas Exhibition in Hull’s Guildhall next month.

Hosted by Hull City Council’s Making Changes for Careers (MC4C) team, the event will provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their products in an environment tailored to the neurodiverse.

Having received neurodiversity training from Rob Edwards, from the Neurodiversity and Entrepreneurship Association, the MC4C team will create a low-noise and open-spaced exhibition, as well as many further adjustments, to ensure exhibitors and visitors do not feel too overwhelmed.

Confirmed businesses at the Making Changes for Careers Christmas Exhibition are; Happy Dragon Writing and Illustrations, Cone Queen Bakery, E3DM, Coco’s Creations, Donche Designs, Blue Ceramics by Ganton, Jessys Jewellery, Host With the Most, Special Stars Foundation, Caits Witchy Creations & Ward Wax

Also in attendance will be representatives from Room 42, a care leavers’ hub based at the Guildhall which helps businesses to develop opportunities for young people to learn more about education, training and employment.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “The MC4C team does a great job in ensuring that inclusive entrepreneurship is at the forefront of its efforts, creating opportunities where everyone can succeed.

“Next month’s exhibition is another example of that, providing neurodiverse and care experienced businesses and start-ups the chance to showcase what they do in a safe and comfortable environment to them.”

Rob Edwards added: “It has been a pleasure working with the enterprise support teams at the council to help them to understand how some obstacles may hinder neurodivergent businesses owners.

“It is exciting to see that Hull is leading the way with its support programmes that give everybody the opportunity to thrive, and we are very proud to have them as a partner of the Neurodiversity & Entrepreneurship Association.”

Making Changes for Careers Christmas Exhibition will take place on Friday 13 December from 11:30am to 3:30pm in C1 at Hull’s Guildhall.

Booking is required and can be done so here. Refreshments will be available at the event.
