Hull City Council and contractor Balfour Beatty working to ensure opportunities for young people in the Hull area are maximised throughout the works.
Young people in Hull are being urged to apply for skilled apprentice positions on Highways England’s upcoming major A63 Castle Street project.
Apprentices are being sought in positions across civil engineering, surveying and digital professions for the scheme, which is expected to run for five years.
And Hull City Council and contractor Balfour Beatty are working to ensure opportunities for young people in the Hull area are maximised throughout the works.
The scheme – one of the city’s most significant infrastructure projects this century will improve journey times to the Port, improve connectivity between the city centre and the marina and reduce congestion on the A63.
Opportunities open to all applicants include civil engineer degree apprenticeship, commercial apprentice/quantity surveying degree apprenticeship and digital project delivery apprenticeship.
Councillor Daren Hale, Hull City Council’s deputy leader, said: “The improvements to Castle Street have been discussed for many years now and it is fantastic local people can now be involved with the implementation of the scheme.
“The council is working closely with Highways England and Balfour Beatty on what we hope is just the first of many opportunities that will become available to people of the city. We urge anyone interested in these opportunities to apply for an exciting opportunity to be part of one of the city’s most significant infrastructure projects.”
