Hull City Council’s Employment Hub recruitment event in collaboration with Amazon was a roaring success.
Session places had the potential to have been filled more than twice over for the event which was aimed at helping to fill up to 2,000 vacancies at Amazon’s new fulfilment centre at Melton West Business Park.
The exclusive event at Hull Central Library, which was extended to accommodate interest, saw around 370 people supported with job applications by staff from both the Employment Hub and Department of Work and Pensions.
Gill Oaten, Employment Hub manager, said: “It was a fantastic day and a really successful event.
“We managed to support hundreds of jobseekers to complete application forms for warehouse operative roles and we could have done that twice over.
“There was so much interest and it’s great to see that the people of Hull and the East Riding coming out in such great numbers to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
“Amazon were hugely grateful for our support too and we hope to collaborate again soon.”

Neil Williams, of Amazon UK, said: "It was such a successful hiring event, we were hugely impressed by the level of interest and the number of potential applicants.
“Our thanks to Hull City Council and the teams from the Employment Hub and the Department of Work and Pensions for making it happen."
