Hull City Council has been shortlisted for the prestigious Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards 2025.

The council’s ‘Invest Hull – supporting business growth’ submission is a finalist in the Economic Development category.

The council demonstrated the success of its UK Shared Prosperity Fund scheme in supporting local businesses to grow and was said to have demonstrated outstanding practice as well as cutting-edge innovations as part of its bid.

The Invest Hull team will submit its final presentation of its work ahead of live judging in London on Friday 28 March.

The LGC Awards 2025 will take place in Grosvenor House, London, on Wednesday 11 June, where the Invest Hull team will discover if it has been victorious.

Success would mean a second victory at the awards, having previously won the Driving Growth category in 2019 after employment in Hull reached its highest level on record.

Cllr Paul Drake-Davis, the council’s portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “This shortlisting is testament to the fantastic work our Invest Hull team has done and continues to do.

“We have seen countless examples of how it supports our local businesses through various methods and I hope the team is recognised by winning the category at the awards in June.”
